how long do you normally wait for a dealer repair.....

i mean, i dropped my bike off there(suzuki dealer) last friday night so technically its been a week now and ive called them twice, 2 times they said theyd call me soon and havent. its a starting issue/carb issue IMO. last i spoke with them(wednesday) they said they got it started by charging the battery but more importantly toying with the carbs. as far as a time frame goes im guessing it depends on how much the dealer is backed up but man..........cant they throw a dog a bone??? sheesh!

it usually takes them about 4 days to add up all the charges.

I waited 2 weeks once for them to replace a starter, it was under warranty otherwise I would've done it myself in 2 hours.

Your experience is not unlike most places I've been to in my area -- they're not at all in a rush, and while attention to detail is important; 1 week to do a starter is quite ridiculous. I once waited three freakin' weeks for a carb sink. After a couple days, they called and told me it needed new rubbers from the carbs to the block and it needed to be ordered. THEN they call a couple weeks later and tell me they arrived, but it seems THEY ordered the wrong size. No apology, no nothing. I was never back there again; not only because of all of the above; but also because of the lack of remorse over seriously inconveniencing a customer.

In Atlanta, Lawrenceville Honda quotes 3 weeks to replace a tire they already have in stock. This particular dealership has poor mechanics and worse customer service, in my experience. Roswell Honda won't touch any bike over 10yrs old.

So if you live where you can get your bike fixed in only two weeks maybe you should count your blessings.

I bought a service manual, order parts online, and get my hands dirty. Job gets done fast and right.

And you care a lot more that the work is done right than the dealer does.

My 6000 km service was a 6 hour turn around. Tightened clutch and throttle cables, checked the brakes and the spark plugs. Adjusted my chain, and made sure all the bolts were tight.

Services are usually done in a day (why not? If they do much more than poke the thing a couple of times, I'll be much surprised.). If there is a part required, well, that's another story. Waited three weeks once for a slave (outlet) valve on the clutch hydraulics to come in. Then they buggered up the fitting of it - got the bolts the wrong way round and it fell off again. But I've recently found some guys I trust. Worth a 90 mile ride to get there.

well i finally got it back yesterday. it seems they adjusted the carbs, changed the plugs, and charged the battery. is it normal for the bike to sound alot different now? would changing the mixture do this maybe? it just doesnt sound as throaty as it did b4. i have cobra pipes btw.

whats worse is that i went out this morning in the cold to start it and the same "poo poo" happened. it started, ran for about 5 minutes and when i went to give it throttle it stalled, and wont start again.

do i have any chance in the world if i tell the dealer they should pay for towing or to come pick the bike up themselves? i had to get a friend to trail it last time and i dont want to ask him again since this place isnt exactly around the corner. this just sucks. sure it was only about 100 bucks for the service they peformed but it was an f'in joke.
