So I did the Toy Run

#1 Unread post by Mustang »

You may remember I came on here a few weeks ago and asked for pointers, tips and advice about going on the Fort Lauderdale Fun in the Sun Toy Run. I did do it and I took the girlfriend. Not only did I have a good time and nice ride but I think I'll do it again next year.

I wrote up the whole event (even to finding a two inch scratch on my bike while at the assembly area) and took pictures of some of the more amazing bikes. You can read about it here at my blog Biker Diaries.

As much as I appreciate everyone's point of view, I recommend any rider going on this kind of event if they never have.

The biggest disappointment has to be with the local press. 30,000 riders participated and an additional 30,000 people turned up at the event afterwards. The whole thing was expected to raise over $500,000 for a local hospital and all those gifts for needy children.

What was in the paper? Nothing. A picture with no story, just a caption.

Thats sad.

Good for you and I am glad you had a good time for a good cause .
Too bad about no press .
Thanx for sharing .
Regards, Wizzard

I love the buzz to this kind of event and it really sticks it to some of the other owner groups. You never see mercedes car owners doing this. All around the world bikers do this and all for the right reasons. I posted the SA one and we had no trouble from 25 000 hard arsed, big drinking, looking for trouble bad bottoms. Yeah right.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R
