Hello from upstate New York

#1 Unread post by KeithB »

Hello from frozen upstate New York :)

I guess i am like a newbie all over again, as i have not had a bike in over 10 years. So i am completely out of the loop.

My last bike was a black 1977 or 78 Honda CB750.

When NY unfreezes i plan to get a new bike, either Honda Shawdow Spirit 750 or a Yamaha V Star 1100 Custom, or something along those lines. I like the cruiser style.

I have a lot of questions: Like liquid cooled vs air, rear disk vs drum brake, 750cc vs 1100. So i guess i gotta do my reseach and ask around

Welcome, Keith. How far upstate are you? I'm just across the border in Gananoque. If you're planning on buying a cruiser you should join the Adirondacks chapter of the Southern Cruisers. My chapter (#446, Brockville) met up with them for a run earlier this summer and we're planning to do it again next year.

I did the same thing last year. Bought a 2003 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 classic brand new off the floor with a 5 year extended warrantee for $8,000. Bike alone sitckers for around $10,500 not to mention the entended warantee.

Congratulations on the new bike Keith. I ride up your way all summer long. My wife is from Vermont so we travel a lot in the summer. I love to ride in the mountains through Lake George. Beautiful ride.
