Engine Swap

#1 Unread post by leonkdill »

I have a 1999 Yamaha 650 V Star Classic with a bad tooth on 5th gear. I purchased a 2004 complete engine assy to swap out. Does anyone know of any problems with it being an exact fiit? The 04 has 1222 miles and the original 99 has 32000.Got it for about the price of fixing the tranny. Thanks for any info. Leon

Engine swap

#3 Unread post by leonkdill »

Update on the engine swap.Started monday on the engine swap,no problems except the Clymers manual did not tell how to get the engine out with the u joint intact. Removed the rear wheel assy. and dropped the swing arm and turned the engine to the right and out it came.O4 engine went right in, only thing different was one electrical connection was not the same.(No problem to change this) Wednesday at noon we were ready to start it. It fired right up and ran real good. I have a 99 complete engine assy. for sale with 32634 miles on it for sale now. It probably won't sell because I hear they hardly ever go bad! :) :)
