Good Luck Charms?

#1 Unread post by Mustang »

I know in the Harley world, its good luck to have a small bell hanging from your bike. You can't buy your own of course, it has to be given to you....

Is this the same for cruisers in general? Does it happen in the sportbike world?

To ring for help when you breakdown!

I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist :) But no, I've never heard of anything like that.

It scares away the Highway Demons.

I have to put my right boot on first or I may crash.

Supposed to be related to a saint and if hung on the bike, protect the rider yada yada yada....

They sell them in the Harley stores around here...and no it doesn't say HD anywhere on it...

As where its hung? Anywhere safe...Mines on the frame at the front of the bike near the bottom.

So Im guessing the answer is no from everyone else....

I had a friend give me one. That basically means that someone cares enough to let me know they want me to stay in one peice. I'll always have it on my bike.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Up here it isn't brand specific - the bell is used to ward off "evil spirits" or road gremlins that would otherwise conspire to do you harm. You can buy one yourself, but they have greater powers if given to you by a friend. The theory is that the gremlins are sucked up into and trapped by the bell (which is why it must be placed on the lowest point of the bike) and then driven insane by the constant ringing. Well, that's what it said on the package of the riding bell that was given to me, anyway.
