The buddy who got me into riding gave the standard of having 1000 miles of riding under my belt before I should 'maybe' take a passenger. At around 1200 miles I let a petite young lady ride on the back remembering the important stuff (takes longer to break, handling being different, etc) and it was fine. Now I don't think twice about having the gf jump on the back, even welcome it.basshole wrote:Good point there CNF2002. At what point in time does a "newbie" feel comfortable enough to carry a pillion? I'd love to get my wife out for a ride but having never carried a pillion, I'm not sure when that comfort level arrives. The last thing I want to do is have my wifes riding experience to be a bad one.
She doesn't have the butt-endurance for longer rides and although I've offered her to ride on my buddys bike which is designed more for comfortable touring than my Deuce, she'll only ride on mine. Addressing the suggestion of having your lady ride with a buddy, women look at that differently than us men.......
