Frame sliders for a cruiser

Maybe I'm not looking hard enough, but I have yet to find frame sliders for a cruiser, namely a Suzuki M50.
I want to protect the bike as much as possible, just short of coating it in bubble wrap and a "nerf-like" material

.

Has anyone fabricated their own set, or are they generally interchangeable?

Just kiddin. I don't know that I've ever seen cruiser frame sliders to be honest with you. Sometimes frame sliders do more damage than protection though (They bend frames in certain crashes ... which cost alot more to replace than dented gas tanks.... )

A sportbike can utilise frame sliders because the frames wrap around the engine, thus the sliders stick out far enough to protect the bike. The frame on a cruiser usually goes under the gas tank. If you were to mount sliders on something like Highway bars or rigid footpegs, it might work. Then again, the weight of the cruiser would probably cause said parts to bend in an accident.

good question ... but I don't know that they exist.

And the cobra site lists the bars as C50/M50 compatable.

Called freeway bars.
Good thing about them is that you can clamp highway pegs on them.
EDIT: The Cobra site lists the Freeway Bar part number 01-1325 for C50/M50 and 01+ volusia so it will fit your bikr.

Thanks for the feedback...I never thought about all the weight of a bike coming down on one, single point (the slider), and the frame slightly bending around it...makes sense.

Great pic of the highway bars/engine protectors, too. I think they would look more appropriate on a cruiser than true sliders. Thanks again.

I think in cruiser world in called Engine Guard which will provide some protection on the side of bike in case of drop.

My friend Shaun dropped his Dragstar just after he bought it. Forunately he had fitted those running board thingies so that took the weight of the Bike and the only repair needed involved using a hammer to knock it straight again.

Suzuki does make engine guards for the M50, will they do ?
