Yamaha FZR 600 starting issues.

#1 Unread post by nike_soccer »

I can't seem to get the ole' bike running. I ran down the check list in my book and I'm stumped.

It's not:
Seized Piston
Dead Battery
Corroded Battery terminals
Blown Fuse(s)
Clutch Starter Bearings

Maybe it's the starter relay? I have no idea and I WANT TO GO RIDING!

And for the record, it does have gas, oil, and the kill engine switch was in the right position.

What does it do when you hit the starter button? Does it crank but not catch? Just click?

If it does crank but doesn't catch, go back to the basics: you need air, fuel, compression and spark. Start with some of the easiest things: are your plugs working? Pull one and verify you have spark. Air filter ok? carbs have fuel ok and aren't gummed up? Compression ok?
