just wanna make it clear regarding turning.

when you're moving slow, like when you take sharp 90º turns or small U turns, you use normal steering right?

and when you're moving faster, like in curves, counter-steering/leaning is the way to go?

I don't think you have much choice in the matter.

Your body will do what feels natural to it. So it's not a conscious decision from what I understand.

It's no concious once you understand the concept. And you can use the knowledge that certain actions will make certain results to improve your turning skills.

Basically in the parking lot turn the way you want to go. Once you hit about 20km/h you start counter steering.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Yeah, counter steering when you are going one or two mph or kph only results in me crashing the bike in the garage, again.

Because the phsyics that allow counter-steering to work aren't in place at that low of speed.

If you are going parking lot slow or have slowed way down at a corner, or coming off a stop, then I think we "steer" the bike with our hands. Going faster (more than about 10 mph?) then we counter steer and lean. I'm a Noobe here so I'm no expert.
