Hey everyone! I'm brand new here, and I thought maybe someone could possibly point me in the right direction when buying my first sport bike. I've done a bit of research so far but I thouhgt it would be best to get some "expert" opinions. :) I'm looking for a bike to use for recreation, up at my familys cabin. Are there any specific brands or bikes in that case that I should be looking at? Thanks.

the most popular sporty looking bikes for beginners are the suzuki GS500F and the kawasaki Ninja 500. it is my understanding that they are just standard bikes w/ sport style fairings.

real sportsbikes are the ones that are used in professional racing... 600cc and above. which of course is not ideal for beginners.

Welcome to the forum mongoose. As Vermilion suggested, the GS500 or Ninja 500 are great bikes to start out on. And while neither of these bikes seating positions will necessitate laying on the tank "Ricky Racer" style, they're sportbikes nonetheless.
