i am going to get a ninja 250... and i live in a really bad part of brooklyn new york. i have several locks my dad has given me from his bikes, but i was wondering if anyone had ever used the dowco alarmed bike covers and if it's worth it to pick one up versus a regular cover?
any other ideas? i have a really heavy kryptonite chain that weighs almost as much as i do

a cable lock AND a disc lock. i dont want anyone to mess with my first street bike!

Ummm, Ninja 250's are one of the easiest bikes to sell...

really? there is a big demand for them on the stolen market? if i were to buy and ride/chop and cut a stolen bike, id want something alot bigger and or much more valuable.

seriously the three ninja 250's i've gone to check to buy were ALL STOLEN

here in brooklyn. i'm gonna have to go to a dealer just to make sure i don't get a hot bike! thanks for the input though. any other ideas? after all my dad will be visiting the 'hood with his ducati sometimes also.

Well if you think about it, a ton of ninja's are going to be dropped and need new mirrors, fairings, pegs, bars, brakes etc etc etc. If you're going to steal something make sure there's a market for them.

Theft is a volume business.

My little CeeGee was nearly stolen. There's always a beginner looking for a bargain and they arent always as tuned in as Domenica.

Yeah, it makes sense that 250's are the best to steal, everyone expects them to be cheap, a thief sells cheap, the beginners dont know much about bikes, are typically unexperienced with title exchange, that whole thing so it would be easy to confuse them with the title transfer bit, they buy the bike, think they have a good one, find out they have a dud bike with no working title.

luckily for me (and unluckily for him) a friend in san francisco had his gsxr stolen last year so i have bike thief paranoia! so basically i got a cover i could lock down.. a disc lock.. (with a reminder), and a 5' bike cable.. oh and a kryptonite NY chain.
