What makes this significantly worse is the fact that you can't hardly find a dealer that will let you test drive a bike any more. I don't blame them, but you have no idea what you are in for until after you sign on the dotted line, you know?
Maybe manufacturers should be encouraged to hold more ride days, or something.
When I finally got on board my new R1, I had heard so many stories about the fearsome power, I thought the first time I let the clutch out the rear wheel would shoot out, the front would come up and bike would flip over and crush me. So it was a leap of faith, let me tell you, and I was actually pleasantly surprised by the civility...
Shoot the salesman--------
When I was looking for a new first bike I went to several dealerships and several different makes. The salesmen, being well aware I had no experience other than MSF, pushed me towards 1100 cruisers and 600 sport bikes. I was looking at 650 cruisers and was told I would outgrow them in no time. Having done my home work, I knew better and paid them no attention. One told me how his first bike was a Gixxr 600 and he just threw his leg over and took off with no problems. Whatever! Then, does anyone ever check out the mag racks. nothing but pictures and reviews of 600 and 1000 sport bikes. It's no wonder people think that's all there is. Just my little rant.
