Honda Interceptor: Live up to the hype?

Hello everyone on my new favorite website! Back yet again with another question.

Can someone give me their thoughts on the Honda Interceptor. Given my stats and location: 6'1, 230lbs, New York City riding (though I get away to Connecticut and places where open-road riding is much more available).

Is this bike all that the magazine & online reviewers crack it up to be? Claimed to be the perfect combination of sportbike, touring, and commuter bike I am pretty interested in checking a few out.

Prior to this I was pretty dead set on my bike being Honda's CBR600 F4i. Any comparison of the two or information from riders with personal experience with either is as usual greatly appriated.

While I appreciate new suggestions, I am most interested in learning more about these two specific bikes so that I can begin to put in order the bikes I will consider purchasing.

Don't know what I would've done without the help of this site. You guys are great!

its a nice bike. got some good looks and good #s, but do you intend for this to be your first bike?

It is a great bike, but then I'm biased!

I had a '99 CBR600F4 before my VFR (Interceptor). The VFR is much more comfortable on long trips. Plus, the power comes on down low, you don't need to scream it to feel it!

But I would not recommend EITHER one for a first bike!

Yes the Interceptor would be my first bike. It was however recommended to me by my uncle who has been riding for over 20 years. He has let me ride several of his bikes and from my brief performances on them, he's making the suggestion. If owners of the Interceptor tell me otherwise, I may have doubts though.

Funny side note: The other bike I was considering was Honda's F4. So maybe 2wheel can give me so more advice.

I spent some time on a VFR last weekend and I'd agree with the magazine and online reviewers. It still has the canyon carving qualities of a sportbike, but the riding postion and broad powerband are excellent for everyday street riding/touring.

I rode the original Interceptor when it came out in '83 and was pleasantly surprised that the newer ones have retained many of the same qualities that made the original such a huge success.

the 2006 is a vtech motor also which seems like it'd be really effing cool to ride around on. but its not variable valve timing, instead it runs on two valves below 7 grand and 4 four above. which you probly already knew
