Arai XD
Well, I think it's time for a new lid. I'd like an Arai XD but they're kinda pricey. Does anyone know of any other helmets of similar style to it? It's kinda MX helmet but with a face shield.

HJC should make one out of their AC-X3. It'd be hella cheaper than the Arai! That's was another helmet i was considering, AC-X3. The Carbon Titan one would be nice, but i can't justify dropping $400 on a lid. At least not for a full fledged MX top.BuzZz wrote:I wanted one too..... but not for $900![]()
I haven't seen any comparable style lids from anyone else yet. Hopefully someone will start making a less expensive version. (you listening HJC, KBC, ect....build it, we will buy it)

My brother had something similar to this in the 80s and it was an el-cheapo brand. You coun't have the facshield and the visor on at the same time but you did have the option..... I went looking for one for my kids but also ended up at the Arai....er no I didn't. I bought one streetbike and one dirtbike helmet instead. I can't believe that HJC hasn't been all over this either....

Found an alternative (fianally).
This helmet ($99) with their visor. All in all, $200 - $275, hella cheaper than the Arai. Anyone hear of these people?

Airoh makes a very sweet dualsport helmet. An italian company that currently has no North American importers, but their helmets are cheaper than the Arai, even with shipping and exchange.

There are several nice helmets at that mfg's site.
Here's a variation on that theme...

And it comes in several colours, just click on the pic...

That's neat and all, but nothing I'd wear offroad. No chin protection. It's not just a matter of crash protection, but debries too. I've had sticks, mud, rocks, etc kicked up at me and bounced off my helmet. One thing i like in a offroad helmet is if it's cheap. I don't feel as bad snapping the visor off my $80 HJC helmet, but if i so much as got a spec of dirt on say a $400 helmet, i'd be freaking out. That's why as much as i want a carbon fiber helmet, I'd never get one. And personally, i htink the Simpson helmet looks better than the Airoh. Oh, and now i know where i've seen them before, The Stig wears one of their race car helmets in Top Gear.dr_bar wrote:WhyteGryphon wrote:Airoh makes a very sweet dualsport helmet.
