Yeah, might just wanna remove it from the bike all together. Thousands of people can see it plain as day every time you go for a ride.

Just giving you a good tip, whether you agree with it or not. The internet isn't the place for posting personal information.

I'd be more worried about the bike thief in my neighborhood tracking me down after seeing my plate at Wal-Mart than the bike thief from New York seeing my Ohio plate on the internet. I understand you mean well, but it's borderline paranoia.

It's common practise on the net to white out your license plate, simply because over time you accidently reveal details about where you life/where you can be found. What type of security you have on your bike and everything. While I'm not accusing anyone of wanting to steal my bike a long-time lurker on the forum would probably know that I've got a Honda 599 with 7300 km on it worth $9000 Canadian that I keep in a garage that doesn't have an alarm, and is always locked, though the bike is not locked to anything.

Anyways, I don't give out my phone number, so I try not to give out my license plate as well, it's a couple extra seconds of editing when I'm posting my pics, but I don't mind it.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

If someone is going to play INTERNET DETECTIVE, they can usually do a fair amount of uncovering personal details even without a license plate. To me, it seems like a colossal waste of time to do that. If someone really wants a bike, they are going to spy it in a parking lot somewhere, get the plate and either steal it if they notice a pattern or it's parked without any kind of securty at the owner's home.

This coming from a guy whose bikes are worth a combined $2500 or so. More trouble than it's worth to take one or the other!
