electrical problem with lightbar lamps

#1 Unread post by nyrblue35 »

hey there,

i was putting some small visors on the 2 lights of my lightbar(97 marauder) and stupidly i was letting the bike warm up while working on the 2nd one(very cold here, no excuse!) i accidentally touched the actual lightbar bracket with the 2 leads from the lamp and both lights went out right away. im guessing i shorted something out like a fuse hopefully? really dont recall when i installed the bar if it came with a fuse but i know for sure i DIDNT use it if so. i wired them directly to my blinkers inside the headlight casing.

the thing is that only the lights on the light bar are out though. the headlight and blinkers are all fine. where should i look? could it be a fuse in the fusebox? if so which one? thats easy enough to get to but im just not sure as im not good with electronics honestly. any help appreciated.

Sounds like a blown fuse to me. You may have to pull each one for a quick visual. There aren't very many on a motorcycle so it shouldn't take but half a minute. If all of them are good, there may be one in the underside of the lightbar itself.
