Jawa woes
Well, I got my blown engine to the mechanic the other day. Seems I need a rebore, crank rebuild, new pistons and small end bearings. Gonna cost me a fortune(to me at least) about 300 USD

Are you going to be spending more than the bike is worth? Obviously I know nothing about the used bike market over there, but would the money be better put towards purchase of another bike?

Well, yes I suppose I will spend more than the market value of the bike. But the thing is, I could buy another same model bike for maybe 400USD(couldn't afford anything more right now), but I would risk having more problems with it in the furture. And anyway I have spent so much time on this bike, that I just want to finish it off. Its had new wheels and bearings, new tyres, new head bearing and races, new brakes, newly covered seat, new paint(by your truly so not so expensive) new wiring(also by me) various new smaller parts, new exhaust pipes...
You see im already too deep in to change my mind on the bike. If I decide to ditch the whole thing now, i will be loosing a lot of previoulsy invested money. Anyway shes my bike, and if she needs it, well then she needs it

My son rode a Jawa 125 for over two years, like all teenagers he thrashed the hell out of it. We sold it looking and performing exactly as we bought it. In fact I think it was performing better. One tough bike.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Yep, they are tough. Though not without a few little niggling problems that keep one busy, rather basic stuff like foot rests getting loose from the vibrations( they are mounted at the end of an engine mounting bolt)sapaul wrote:My son rode a Jawa 125 for over two years, like all teenagers he thrashed the hell out of it. Tough as hell nonetheless. Knew someone who rode one for two years with hardly any gearbox oil, cause they didn't think to change it. Still going strong now.
