Get an SV650, it has the bulky look you're looking for, you might not kill yourself on it, and you'll still have all the ego-maniacal looks/power that you're searching for.

For someone his age/experience a SV650 is still way too much in my opinion...

I agree. I would never let my 16 year old on anything but a 250. Ninja, Nighthawk, Rebel, there's all kinds of options out there for whatever type of bike you are looking for.

A 16 year old can and will show off at some point. Unless they have no friends. Put a teenager with 1) other teenagers or 2) girls and even the most mature teen will do something stupid.

What kind of response could a 16 yo kid expect posting to a motorcycle forum saying he needs a 'streetbike to the max'. I mean seriously!

His parents must be nuts (or not paying attention).

you seem to be so sure on a 750 or a 1000 bike. Have you ever ridden any bike? my very first ride was on a 600 and it scared the crap out of me and i realized that that was too much power for a n00b. Know how old i was? 16. You have no road experience watsoever, never had a car or a bike. I was like you, i wanted an R6 as my first bike, but that ridd on my buddys 600 was enough to show me that i needed to start small. im scared of those things...the hayabusa...not the trolls....
for real kid if you ever do check back here...were not picking on you or anything we just dont want you to die. motorcycles are heavy firebreathing machines, the haybusa is argueably the biggest beast in the jungle. wouldnt you wanna kill a squirell first? or at least a deer?

Buying a 'busa as a 16 y/o with no experience (or any age for that matter) is like joining the army, being handed a rifle, and having them say "now go attack these terrorists, good luck!" on your first day...chances of dying are probably about the same too.

Course, the people who work at these dealerships don't help at all either. I was at a local dealer eariler today looking at helmets and checking out the new GS500F and some 20 year old guy who'd knew nothing came in and starting asking about bikes, the guy working there instantly started showing him the GSX-R600 & YZF-R6...saying stuff like "it's got the power and handling you need." The power you need? When is this guy going to need to go from 0-60 in 3 seconds? When is he going to need to make hairpin turns? When is he going to need to cruise around at 150mph?

I think if someone who's new to bikes dies right after buying a super powered RR type bike, the guy who sold it to him should be held partially accountable... (not that that'll ever happen). His correct response should have been "you're new to bikes, we'll here the # to call for the MSF course and some info and here's some good starter bikes" or something. But no...it's "big money big money big money STOP!"
