Do F4I's have fuel pressure regulators?

#1 Unread post by Glenn02F4I »

I just swapped out my plugs for new ones, and at hi rev my bike runs fine, when I am at idle it seems to builed up on fuel and sputters a little in the low RPM's unti I pass abour 3500-4000RPM. What can cause this? I also have a D&D exhaust and think this might be contributing to the fuel build up. please help. If it does have a FPR, what should it be set at?

No idea. Newbie rider here too. Actually contacting you because I'm about to purchase an '02 F4i. Just wondering how its going for you right now? Do you like the bike? Has it been forgiving so far to a new rider? Should've PMed you but I'll try that route next time.

Yes, the F4i does have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. I don't think that you can adjust it, it's a diaphram type and it works off of engine vacuum.

Go to bikebandit.com and pull up the OEM parts list for your bike, go to the throttle body schematic and it should be in there.

As for the "fuel build-up" at low rpm's I don't know it could be a number of things. I would take it to the local shop to see what they think it is.

So far good, I love it except for the issue i am seeing right now, when it runs good, it is awesome, when it sputters it gets a little scary. It also sits up a little more than some of the other bikes.

right now the are thinking clogged injector causing the other to work harder. gonna empty out the tank, throw in new fuel, and add the injecotr cleaner.

How many miles is on your F4i? I've got 7k on mine and it has been running like a top every since I got it. I did put some kevlar clutches in with some heavier pressure plate springs, but other than changing the oil thats all I have done to it.
