I have to agree with Sevulturus about those Sony headphones. For me they provide the best sound for your money. Cheap, and with amazing sound, and I always thought they would be good for riding as they cut down on a lo of outside noise.

They also help on flights if the pressure gets to your ears like it did mine.

Oh, and they are loud

( Am on my second pair now, white ones this time for a change and I got some for my mum for her christmas and she agrees, they really are much better than normal headphones )

I used to listen to music on trips, but for some reason I just didn't really like it. I think the main reason is because I'm deaf in one ear, so I can only hear half the music. Imagine only hearing drums and guitar, or vocals and bass. That's what it's like when I put on headphones. Stereo sucks when you can't hear out of one ear. Surround sound is pointless for me too. I had to actually have someone explain to me what it was, because I can't hear the effect of it. Symphonic music is usually fine, but hard to hear with the wind noise.

I'm kind of with Toyuza on the subject too. I love listening to the music of my beautiful Yoshimura instrument. And honestly I don't think I could hear anything over it either. She's loud.

You're not kidding! I have a friend with an SV thou, and he's got aftermarket cans - can't remember the brand, but when I'm leading, and my bike is howling out it's 8000 RPM 4-cylinder cacauphony, I can still hear him behind me!

I have those Sony headphones that Sevulturus mentioned. While expensive, I agree that they are the best option for listening to music while riding. I don't use them in the city, only on the open road during longer trips. They fit in the ear well enough to block wind noise, and fit inside of my helmet. Most importantly, they sound UNBELIEVABLE.

Definitely the way to go.

After much seeking and with no help from grumbly Best Buy employees I have finally procured a set of the Sony head phones. Come Friday I can take another long trip and test them out!
