Crashing SUCKS
Yeah so, I've had my bike a little less than a week now and tonight, I low sided. It was raining, and I was seriously going like FIVE miles per hour and a car in front of me stopped rather quickly and I hit the front break a little too hard and BAM...I was down. All I got out of the mess was a jammed thumb and a beat up knee. My SV on the other hand got the gear shift lever knocked off and the handle bars put a dent in the tank. Aside from a scrap on the brake lever and the radiator, I think its alright. Good news is I have to get a new tank because of the recall on mine, so thats free. I'm also afraid I might have bent the handle bars a bit or something....so, a new gear shift lever (the linkage looks alright) and whatever they have to do the steering head....::sigh:: At least I got my first crash out of the way and came out basically unscathed, just feeling like a real a-hole right now

Look at the bright side, better to do it now and learn than to do it when you've got a more expensive bike and you're going 70+ mph. Now you know to be prepared!

Yeah, thanks for the support guys, anyone know what a new shift lever and whatever has to happen with the steering (just turns a little too far to the left now) will cost? I mean, I guess there is no way to tell. Good news is I found out that there is a Suzuki dealer about 4 blocks from work (where my bike is now) and it is in a gear, so I'll be able to drive it down there tomorrow.
Yeah, you know, I've been reading this forum for about a year now and you read about people crashing and you're like "Man, that sucks, but...it'll never happen to me, I'll be careful" and I WAS being careful...going to get gas, see if the rain keeps up and if it did I was gonna go park it and call it quits....didn't even make it to the damn gas station! I did learn a lot from it though and hopefully this'll just put a knotch in my noobie belt (I'm keeping my broken shift lever end in my jacket pocket from here on out to remind myself to NOT FREAKIN' WRECK)...I'll keep you guys updated
