One of the guys that works where I work has a customized 1500 mean streak. hes put drag pipes on it and a custom paint job which is white with purple flames and looks really good, he also installed a solo seat.
A power cruiser like a mean streak or M109 is about the only cruiser id own
awesome looking bike..been looking at one for about a month now and think im going to sell the sabre to get it..the bike has unbeliavable amount of torque and power throughout the band..the vtx 1800 cant even compare in power and when i rode it i thought for sure it would be almost identical. The 109 also has a much lower center of gravity-it wants to be thrown into corners(even with a huge back wheel)..it has superb balancing and although i was not supposed to gun it-in 2nd gear at 30mph on a roll on..i popped the clutch(about 2k-dump) and the front end came up high and almost busted the bead on the rear..probably would have if i didnt let off on the throttle..I didnt get it super fast on the highway but at 75mph on the interstare in 4th gear it was purring at 2500ish rpm(it has a 7500rpm redline!!!) and barely sounded like it was running. Tracks very well through corners as well for a big bike..very little counter steer is needed and it almost pulls itself in on itself in the twisties but on the back side of those corners it has to be pushed a little to right it up(but that is what i suspected of a heavy bike-so no surprises)..Of course i didnt go hit no deals gap with it but i took it to a pretty curvy road and was more than presently surprised..
To me the the only cons were
1. Brakes-the back brake is useless..when you do back break only..the back wheel wants to light up even with all that rubber and it takes a manly amount of force to push it down. The front breaks are unbelievable and will stop that bike by itself on a dime but unfortunately there is terriable nose dive associated with it from i tested from 20-25mph full on stops
2. Seating position was strange..you sit down in the bike but the pegs and controls feel a little too high up..not necessarily cramped but out of ergonomic proportion(if that makes sense?)_But i am 6'3" and used to having 6" forwards and a 19" seat height so maybe its just becasue of that?.
The pros:
1. The ride is smooth and effortless and is as smooth or "torquee" as you want it to be. It flys into corners(almost a little too easy-if your a novice this bike will get you in trouble real fast-i could feel the bike wantimg me to push it in the corners but my friend at the stealer was doing me a solid by letting me ride it and i didnt want to bring it back with ground down peg nipples..haha)
2. The POWER!!..its is as fast as you think and more..I have a gixxer750 and i know how to get the power out of that bike..this bike would smoke my bike in a straight line(not even close)..its got tons of power and torque..starting off in 5th gear from a dead stop made almost no differance..it was even fast of the line with that..
I had it in 3rd gear going about 40 and had the clutch completely out and pulled back hard on the throttle and it lit up the rear..shocked me..wasnt ready for that much power(this bike is not for a noob or faint of heart)..the vtx1800 my buddy has..has no where near the same amount of torque or have the power come on that fast in the power band..i dont know how suzuki did this?? but its a beautiful thing..there is def. one of these in my future..
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to share my personal experience with the 109
I looked at the bike yesterday and it's a beast, I was quoted a price of $13,800 OTD plus $700 for a 5 year warranty if that's what I wanted.
I started the bike up and it sounds great and revs quick, it has 127.4 hp, one problem that I noticed is that they don't have a windshield for it yet and I imagine the it will cost a small fortune.
One of my frustration with my V-max is the lack of accessories it looks like this bike might be the same...

Give 'em a few months. The C50t and C90t didn't come out until a few months after the C50 and C90, and I imagine Suzuki has a touring version of the M109R in the works.

The ergos felt nearly identical to my bike when I had the stock stiletto seat on it. You lean slightly forward and grip pseudo-drag bars. The price is downright amazing, too! A little over $12k on the sticker. Not bad for the largest bore of any gasoline-powered production engine in the world!
12/13K dollars, and you said my BMW went for 15k plus. There is no justice in the world. That bike looks like it should have a big price tag on it.
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R
the m109r was slated to cost 16,999. Read somewhere online that they dropped the price to see if people were interested in this type of a machine since it has crotch rocket type looks and performance..DUH!!!..who wouldnt be interested in performance..haha
its a lot of bike for the money..my local stealer here in south georgia wants 13k out the door and he has the black and the silver one in stock.
They are awesome machines..
