That's good to hear, particularly from someone with the good taste to own a Ural! I always loved those bikes, Royal Enfields, Bonnevilles/Thruxtons, Nortons... Probably saw The Great Escape too many times in my youth (and did run a three-wheeler into barbed wire once...).

Current bike is a 03 Honda spirit sabre


When i first saw the bike it had a "hot rod" type look to it and i instantly had a vision of a "pro-mod, street thumper" type look to it..not necessarily chopperish..just low and long..it has taken me a few years but it has finally come together..its a daily driver with almost 50k in miles and it wins a lot of shows for all the mods that i have done but 1st and foremost, i just love driving it because it sits very low and its a differant kind of a riding experience than most have and also the attention it gets(thast right i'm an attention mean..haha)..seriousely though, after all this time(like most) i still get that overwhelming feeling of joy from this bike when i ride it and thats whats important to me..

That bike deserves a lot of attention! It's extremely well-executed. That rear tire looks like it's rubbing the inside of the fender! Very nice.

theres about an 1/4" of space available for expansion..haha
it took a lot more than i thought to get it that low and still be "driveable"-for every step forward-2 back..lots and lots of custom bolts and one offs and lots of grinding of body parts and frame to get it to lean in corners again but thats the price you pay for achieving a certain "look". The old saying of looking cool and being functional not being the same is def. true..lol

2001 R6

I just moved up from a 98 Gs500 and all i can say is WOW, I actually find the sport riding position more comfortable, i rode it home 2 hours the night i bought it and i was never uncomfortable.

The Power , on the freeway with the GS500 doing 80 and hitting the throttle to get in front of someone took forever hold it for 5 minutes and be going 2 miles an hour faster. R6 hit that throttle no more cars anywhere near you

The handling is insane so much more stability cornering the only down side is low speed turns are not as stable but then again i am just learning to ride the R6.

In short the R6 is all that i ever wanted and more than i will ever need

I noticed that a lot of you compare your bikes to Harleys. “sounds like” “looks like” etc… Well enjoy what you like and don’t compare yours to the Harley crowd. All of you have great bikes and should be proud.

With that said… I went against the grain of the Harley guys and it appears everyone else, however I do get a lot of folks that look her over pretty good when I‘m out and about. The 2003 V-rod is the bike for me. It was a picture of the first V-rod on a bathroom wall back in 2002 that pulled me in like a magnet. The lines and the rake and the engine… it was like nothing I had ever seen. While counting the pennies in my piggy bank I realized that I would not be able to get one, just to much money. SO I was going to settle for a Soft-tail Standard. At Cox’s HD in NC I was putting in my order and the owner said he could sell me a V-rod for the same price and the rest was history. July of 2003 with a broken arm and all I rode that V-rod home.

After several mods and tuning and riding and custom paint and 22000 miles plus, she goes 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds, ¼ mile in 12 seconds at 109 MPH with me on it, has 110 horses at the rear wheel and 76 lbs of torque on the dyno. I’m no professional racer… there are guys going a lot faster than me on them, most hang out on the V-rodforums.com. The only thing I enjoy more is me wife and my sons.

Sorry guys, I thought it would let you see them with that link. The exhaust is Vmodded from vmod.com, they remove the inner baffle. I see you logged in the v-rodforums.com. the wheels are from HD.
