What bike?

My plan is to ride from toronto to vancouver and other such distances.
But i am a student with<b> no money</b>.

I guess this question must have been asked more than once, but please tell me since i am not familiar with the motorcycles in north america, What is the cheapest option that i have.

What is the 'life span' of a bike like YAMAHA VIRAGO 1100 in the number of miles.

Please suggest. Will appreciate your time.

there are tons of cheap bikes, for intercity riding you may want a cruiser, but then again that may not be your stlye. So give us some insight into what kinda bikes you like or think are cool and we can give ya the cheapest kind of bike in the class

I want somethig light. Not too heavy. I dont want to spend a lot of money on the gas.
I had a motorcycle in india that was on Deisel, (royal enfeild Army with a compton greaves engine), that was heavy and i did not like that part of it.
I dont go on looks, something decent is ok with me...

i dont mind cruisers as long as they are not very heavy and dont drink alot of oil. Considering two main things :- should be inexpensive and i plan to travel alot.

There is no answer to your question. Because like anything with moving parts (including yourself) how well you take care of it determines how long it will last. If the bike never had an oil change, was revved hard all the time, and dropped a lot it would last a couple of months. If it was well taken care of, and rebuilt when required it could run forever.

How tall are you and what is your inseam? My Honda Rebel is about as economical as your gonna get and I have done the distances your talking about with zero problems.

Not sure how many of these might be around used, but I understand the Suzuki V-Strom and Kawasaki KLV (same bike sold by both companies with diverse names).

I hear they are incredibly dependable and have some hard storage. They are tall, but not overly heavy. Good fairing and windscreen for long highway travel. Though I do not know how inexpensive you will find them.

My wife's brother has a Yamaha 1100, and has no problems. He does a lot of distance riding, so the Virago might be an excellent bet (it will be heavy, but low to the ground).

a standard sounds good. Not to heavy, not to expensive and like all good bikes has great MPG. They can be good for mild travel though if you are looking at like cross country trips look at a crusier. Some sugestions
