Suzi Blvd S40 - Belt drive chirping

Hello all,

This is likely a general belt drive question, but the Blvd S40 is quirky bike.

The wife's S40 started making this ungodly noise one day. I didn't ride it much, so I didn't recognize the sound right away. Then it hit me. Sounds like a slipping fanbelt, but a trill rather than a steady whine.

Sure enough, the rear wheel adjustments were off a bit, and the left side of the belt was showing some tooth wear.

Evened up the rear wheel, and it was less loud, then one day it just stopped!

Me: "Hey babe... I fixed your bike!"

Her: "My hero!"

She goes for a ride, loves the bike again. We stop somewhere, leave...

Her:"IT'S DOING IT AGAIN!"

Me:"Uh..."

So now it does it on and off. Some days it is silent. Some days it chirps. One time, she bounced the back wheel against a curb a few times and it stopped... Which I would think would happen with the adjusting bolts set... I can't see it slipping backwards?

Any thoughts. Any S40 owners having similar problems?

belt could be worn out. The belt on my ranger was chirping like a am-fm til i replaced it. Now it's silent.

Bring to the dealer then, should be under warrenty.

if it was out of alignment to start with, it could have prematurely worn the belt.

so its a chirping here and there? I get a ching ching bing bing every so often, still trying to figure out what that is. I would try making sure everything is tight before every ride, I meant the thing is called a thumper for a reason, no easier way to vibrate bolts loose that stick them on either a s40 or a rotary airplane engine.....

I am surprised it hasn't vibrated the paint off yet! (that's me on the interstate with it!)

It is due for scheduled maintenance soon, so I'll make sure they know about it.

havent had it on the interstate yet but have had it up to 70, EVERYTHING rattles and the engines sounds like its about to die......

Wear sticky boots when you do. My slick bottomed stereotypical-biker-boots (metal ring, three straps... oh yeah!) about slid off the pegs first time I rode it on I-40.

If you're in the 6-foot tall range, I would suggest a windshield. At 70-80, especially if it is windy... I was exhausted from keeping myself on the seat! I am a human drag-chute on that bike.

yeah I am 6-2, but the short amount of time I intend to have this bike and the short insterstate distances I assume to be riding, I dont really want to invest in a windshield.
