Carbs.
Hi to All !!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 1982 Yahama Virago V-Twin 750cc …………………… It had been sitting up for about 12 years, by the time I got it ………….. Looks like the { First of 2 }, Previous Owners, might have been working on it, by the NOTES in the Manual …
I REBUILT the Carbs., myself, as with other Bikes – { mostly 4 – cylinders }, I replaced the INTAKES as well…………. I did NOT get NEW rubber seals for Throttle Shaft with Kit……. Think maybe it Leaks there ???????????? I’ll check Saturday …………. The PROBLEM with Bike { after Carb. Rebuild }, is, it Will RUN on ONE cylinder, or the OTHER, but will NOT RUN SYNCRONIZED { using Sync. TOOL } !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is this A DEFINATE Carb. Problem { STILL }, or is it POSSIBLE there is a Problem with the something else ??????? I can’t AFFORD to { BUY } REBUILT CARBS., ESPECIALLY, if I do NOT REALLY NEED them ……………………………………….. I need to get the Bike RUNNING, as the GAS PRICES are GOING UP again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cold -- you definitely NEED the CHOKE, { on one cylinder }….. After warm up, it will RUN fair on ONE cylinder…….. but NOT on BOTH !!!!!!!!!!! Even with Choke, it Will NOT hardly START, much less RUN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have NOT checked for Vacuum Leak yet……………………….

Wow, that was a difficult post to read - so much punctuation and brackets!

Anyway, what you're describing sounds like a vacuum leak to me. Get some carb cleaner in a spray can and while the bike is running, shoot a couple squirts around the intake manifold rubbers at the carbs and where the intake manifold enters the cylinder. If the engine speed suddenly picks up, you've found the problem - usually cracked rubber gasktes/hoses or a clamp not tightened properly.

How do you know it only runs on one cylinder? Double check both cylinders are getting fuel, air and spark. Even a vacuum leak should allow both cylinders to run, unless there's an obvious problem, like a huge hole in your intake boots.

Are you saying when you attach the carb balancer, one carb isn't drawing any vacuum? The carbs could just be seriously out of whack.

If I use the Sync. Adjuster -- turning to one side or the other, it will Start, and Run BETTER, than when Attempting to SYNCRONIZE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have Replaced the Intakes, as well as REBUILT the Carbs................... I have NEVER had this much Trouble with 4 - Cylinders !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had NEW PLUGS when attempting to get it running ............................... I checked the Spark too !!!!!!!!!!!! Once warm, it Started right up, { if turned to one side or the other } ............................ So far, { other than Leak Test }, I have tried all the TRICKS that I know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for Your Help !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can you restate that? Not quite sure what you're getting at.

Since there are ONLY TWO Carbs., if the adjuster { between carbs }, is turned so one of the TWO is Pulling MORE than the OTHER, it seems to Run BETTER than when Syncronized ...................... or as CLOSE to being BALANCED as I can tell !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It starts easier too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A Mechanic at one of the local shops, said that He had MORE TROUBLE with TWO carbs., than FOUR too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoa Unc, you forget to take your medication?

It sounds like (from what I can hear past all that other distraction) one carb is still slightly gummy and not delivering the same amount of fuel.

thanks for your input....... i rebuilt carbs. with kit -- new parts..... nothing should be gummed up, after soaking with carb cleaner three times !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! blowed with air too....................... nothing should be gummed up ...........................
