Made my way through the rain and protestors and traffic to a suzuki dealership to check out the vstorm650. I loved it. Felt very very comfy, loved the looks over the KLR650, like the stats on it, and i like the color scheme. If it rides well its gonna be great. Anyone ever ridden one or own one and care to tell me how youve liked yours and if there is anything i should know about these bikes before getting one?

You've ben doing this all week, you know it's a V-stROm right?

I've heard nothing but good things about them, though they are said to be a little top heavy, that's a given based on it's decidedly offroad suspension.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

FINALLY someone mentions the vstrom! i have to be honest as i dont have any experience on them but i WILL tell you that i purchased and im waiting on delivery for a red 06 model. it came down to what was most comfortable IMO. the honda 599, yamaha FZ6, and kawasaki Z750S. Although ive read plenty of reviews for the bikes above, they dont really put the vstrom 650 in the same middleweight class which i think is weird. guess its due to the dual sport nature its touted for. It def. has the most upright riding position, from what i read it gives you a commanding view of traffic(and you know how that must be true because of how tall the bike is).

the huge 5.8 fuel tank is nice, the gauges are set up nice as well. I only wish a center stand came stock on it but oh well, an upgrade obviously. i got a very good trade in offer on my marauder so i went for it. not to steer you away from here but this place is worth a look since itsa vstrom forum.

i hope to have mine by the end of the week.

p.s. only wish i could speak from experience but i will be able to soon.

ooops, crapola. forgot the link to the vstrom forums. duh

Style and suspension aside, it is NOT an off-road capable bike. If you keep it in it's natural enviroment, it's an excellent pakage. If your looking at a road of some sort, your good. If your looking at a trail, turn around.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

really? what about light trails, like dirt roads with a few bumps and holes? Would be curious as to why its listed as a dual sport then

The dirt and roads are one of the main reasons that I want one. The other reasons are over 370km to tank, it won't pooch my back on a tour, built in anti-theft protection  , and far lighter and more fun than the V-Strom 1000. The SV650 engine is a gem as well.......
