so i was wondering if there are already 250 and 500 production bikes w/ the same specs already.
.....and there in lies the problem....
250cc G.P. bikes do spawn very close road going replicas that usually end up being severely detuned for the markets they are sold in. In the early eighties Suzuki (RG500), Yamaha (RZ500) and Honda(NS400) brought 2 stroke replicas in to Canada (but not the US) Due to ever tightening emmisions regulations the days of the street legal two-smoke were nearly over. They were very cool and advanced for their time, and there were many stories of people riding them down to the states and selling them for huge prices to rich people who had never seen them before.
The two main reasons for the change to 4 strokes in Moto-Gp were the ability for the manufacturers to utilize the technology that they spending their money on in real street-bikes, and the relevance the bikes had to the fans. With the 2 stroke market all but dead in many western countries it made sense to to switch to the 4 strokes.....
