just got my first bike

#1 Unread post by skinnyjoint »

hey guys just got my bike last week. 01 cbr600f4i, and i have a couple questions if you guys wouldnt mind

i just bought the michelin (sp) pilot powers or somthing just wondering how those stack up with other tires. i got a good deal on them so just wondering.

also what should i keep tire pressure to on them?

i am a new rider, only been riding for about 6 mos, i have taken the msf, this is my first bike. my only concern right now is rain, i havent ridden in it and quiet frankly im kinda scarred.im sure this is talked about a billion times but is it pretty much the same just go slower or?

does anyone know where i can get an online manual or sorts for the bike? i dont have anything and just wondering about maintence how often oil, air filter etc, its got 18k on the bike and he just got the valve adjustment and new chain and sprocket on, how long until another valve adjustment?

does anyone have this bike and can tell me how to set the clock as well cuz that would be great.

and i need some frame sliders previous owner laid it down there kinda knicked up anyone reccomend a good site

thanks in advance

You've already bought the CBR so I'm not about to give it to you both barrels, however it wasn't the best choice in the world.

Pick up the Haynes. The last thing you want to do when you are wrist deep in oil and grease is to try and remember settings from your computer or worse yet have to use your computer.

Pilot's are supposed to be good, however if you have new rubber on the CBR you will need to give the tires a thou or so to burn off the coating on them.

Don't go out in the rain yet. Seriously don't. You have enough to contend with without giving yourself the additional stress of riding in crappy weather.

When you do give yourself 4 seconds distance from the idiot in front of you, plan your maneavors earlier to avoid doing anything sudden, practise being smooth with pouring the power on, steering and braking.

While we are talking about braking it needs to be even as well as smooth and on a 50/50 front/back brake basis.

What safety gear are you using?
