New (more like soon to be) biker and to the forums from WI

#1 Unread post by Jthmeffy »

Hey. I'm 20, and I've never been on any form of motorcycle. I've wanted to ride since I was young but never really got to thinking about it seriously until recently. I am going to sign up for MSF up in Eau Claire for May/June. I dont have a bike yet but i am looking.

I wont be able to buy one for awhile anyway (in between jobs.. looking like crazy, applying everywhere.. but for the time i have been unemployed, I have wracked up a hefty bill with my fiance, so i need to start on paying her off before i drop cash on a bike). I plan on finding some beater bike ($500 or less and 500cc/50hp or less) that will work for the summer and pick something up that i can reasonably afford and have fun with (was thinking something like a ex500 ninja or a gs650, something after i get the basics down with the beater). Anyone have any ideas for a good bike to look for that would be in the cheap beater section?

Also, am I the only person who justifies wanting to ride a bike down to economy to everyone around him but actually just wants to ride? I start mentioning to friends and family that i want to start riding and the only answer that satisfies them is to 'save gas'.

bleh

lol, so here is my intro!
