Burnout question??

Hi

I have a friend who keeps on burning his tire everywhere. My concern is, is that damagable for the bike (crb 600 f4). I know its hard on the tire but from a mechanical part of view. Or does a little burnout here and there dosent matter that much.

Could anyone give me there experiences on burnouts...cause i have a cbr 600 rr and would like to give it a try. I used to burn my tire on my V45 Magna, but i did not care for the bike. And now i dont want to ruin my CBR.

When the tire is spinning, it's no tougher on the bike than if the entire bike is going at the speed the rear tire is spinning at. However, the inertial "jerk" to break the rear tire loose can be tough on the entire powertrain.

My $0.02: why do burnouts at all, if all it does is hurt your engine, transmission, chain, sprockets and tires?

In my experience, there are two kinds of motorcyclists. First you have the people who just like to ride and enjoy themselves. Then you have the guys who are in it for the attention.

The ones that like attention get it in several ways. First you have people like the Harley guys who spend hours polishing acres of chrome and adding all sorts of flashy do-dads and ear-splitting pipes to their bikes so they can ride 1/2 mile to the nearest bar and park it for all to see. Then you have the guys who get attention through their antics--wheelies and stoppies on the street, burnouts, etc.

Cant say Ive ever done a burnout...havent a clue what the point of it would be unless I especially liked buying tires.

the previous owner of the buell blast im picking up must have liked doing burnouts. The back tire has a huge "O Ring" flat spot right down the center of the tread.

yea after spending 350 bux on tires i cant say ill be doing burnouts or even caring to do burnouts anytime soon screw that

yea, and its not like its hard to do a burnout on a motorcycle, in "some" cars it can be a status thing, (i wanna see a honda civic with a body kit burnout without using the e-brake) i drive a dodge dakota R/T with a 5.9L and it will easily rip the back tires loose with no help from the brakes but the tires also cost $250 a piece so i just drive with the confidence knowing i "could" light them up if i cared to but i dont have to. thats just my take on it. its your bike, your tires, and your money.

3 years ago three of my firends went to the Annual Sept Tyo Run for Santa's Anonymous. They met up at the parking lot behind one of my friends house. The one guy out of the group that I didn't know deicded he was going to show off and do a burn out. He lost control and wheelied his bike (whithout him) across the parking lot, and into the first guy'd GF's van. BOOM! He was out a bike (took a whole season to fix). And about $500 to fix the damage he did to the van.

We still have his clutch lever as a reminder to not do stupid "poo poo".
