future of buell

#1 Unread post by fbodyboy95 »

hi, second post. i'm interested in getting a bike soon. unfortantly, it will have to wait for us to close on our new house. wife has told me i can't get one until its furnished and landscaped, so i'm thinking about financing one new from dealer.

my question is, i went and looked at diff. bikes and fell in love with the buell xb9 lightning. the dealer told me that they won't be around for long because of sales history. is this only his dealer or the us or southern region?
i love the bike and don't want to miss my chance on getting one if they're not going to be selling anymore in the near future.

Buell is another one of those companies with a big fat question mark at the moment. No one is quite sure of there future. Just like Aprilia, it is highly probable that this would be there last year, or have already been dead if they werent bought out by (I cant recall the name) that huge european scooter company, and a lucky signing with bmw to make the F-bike engines. Same story with moto-guzzi. Theres a few companies in limbo right now.

Buell will not just disappear as there parent company is harley davidson, butt as to the models, like everything else, they will come and go. Check with the dealer though, as even if they arent stocking them, it is very likely they will special order one for you, because its a guarantee theres a warehouse somewhere with more than a few waiting for new homes.

Piaggio bought Aprilia (And Moto-Guzzi)

Don't worry about availability on your xb9. Even if they discontinue, there will be used ones on the market for years - and I would have to say that if you buy a new Buell, you're probably not making a wise financial descision anyway. Buells depreciate horrendously - a new xb12r, for example will set you back $12k, but a year old one w/ a couple hundred miles will cost you half that.

So anyway, go used - and don't worry about availability ... Harley Davidson isn't going anywhere any time soon.
