Greetings from "The Gentlemen's Express"!

#1 Unread post by spiritusnoctem »

Hi, fellow Road Pilots.

Paul here. I'm a longtime motorcyclist, here to join your online community!

Have been riding for 24 years on three different continents, and am happy to say that I'm still intact, with zero demerits on my license!
:D

Of all the different kinds of riding I do, I like dirt biking the most, followed by sport-touring. Currently ride a Kawi ZX11D ("The Gentlemen's Express"), and may be switching to a Benelli or Triumph within a year.

I hope that this is a good place to make friends and share riding adventures.

Cheers!

Welcome, Paul! Glad you like what you see here so far. We have several ZX/ZZR riders here, so make yourself at home! Awesome bike, BTW...
Let me get this straight... it's one down and four up, right?

:welcome: Nice bike. Are you sure about the Benelli ot Triumph though? The ZX 12R or even Hayabusa seems a more natural progression for a gentleman's conveyance.

Hehehehe. Thanx for writing, Oakhurst.

Yes, I have indeed considered another literbike sport-tourer as my next ride, but after 14 different motorcycles in my life, I am now compelled to get a "character" bike for my next ride.

Because I don't ride nearly the distances I used to (my wife is not a bike enthusiast...our two-up rides are rarely more than a couple hundred km), I am thinking of switching to a city-friendly character bike.

Bikes I have looked at:

-Suzy 'Busa
-Kawi ZZR1200
-New BMW K1200 four (overpriced for what you get, though)
-New BMW R1200 flat twin (ditto)
-Confederate Hellcat (I could only hope to afford a $60k bike like this)
-Aprilia Tuono (almost affordable at $20k)

Alas, I am really diggin' the techno-naked look of the Benelli and the Triumph Triple. They are more upright and commuting-friendly than my ZX11D, and the dirt rider in me really likes the wide bars.

I dunno... it might be an aesthetic infatuation only...once I ride either of these bikes, I might get really disappointed, and want to go back to my ZX11D! I know one thing's for sure: very few engines can match the rush of my Kawi 11 powerplant.

:)

Very nice looking bikes! I like the Aprilias. I missed a chance to ride with one this weekend due to a nasty bug that hit everyone in my family, me last. :? You might be interested in some stories on this site. The guy has owned a ZX 11D, and now has a Hayabusa, and to remember his biking roots, an old Yamaha Venture tourer. (Winter commuter bike) Lots of interesting stories there.
