New rider looking at 1997 Honda CBR600F3

I've read around a few forums before making this post, all with mixed advice. First off, I'm new to motorcycles, this will be my first one. I am pretty set on getting something along the lines of a 600cc sportbike, and a few come to mind, including the cbr600, gsx-600, and FZR600. My main question is this: I'm 6'3, 165lbs, will I have a problem with either ride height/position with a CBR600 or the hp? I'm not trying to toot my own horn, and I'm not even sure if it matters, but I'm in very good physical condition. I've heard mixed thoughts as to whether or not this bike would be suitable for me. The general consensus on here is that a 600cc sportbike is too much power for a beginner. Try a Ninja 500, or a GS500F if you like the looks of sport bikes. Trust me, those will be plenty fast enough for you.

This forum definately frowns on 99% of the 600cc bikes. I tried to put up a good fight and went ahead and bought a 2003 Yamaha R6. Just be careful and know your limits cuz the bike doesn't know yours.

How the hell would we know? Anyone in this forum could ride my bike, but that doesn't mean they would like the ergos. Go sit on one.

I'm sure there are some people on here who could tell him if he is too tall for that bike (as in if there is a 6'3" rider on here who sat on the bike).

But yeah, it's best just to sit on it yourself. But none of the experienced riders on here are going to recommend that bike (or at least none I've seen). I was looking at a CBR600 when I was looking for a bike, but then I decided to take the advice of the people on this board, and got an old 450cc honda standard.

I wasn't trying to be a jerk. It just strikes me as weird that folks always seem to ask that same question despite the fact that no one could possibly know for sure if the person asking would actually be comfortable on a given bike. I "fit" just fine on my bro-in-law's old Honda 600F4i, but it hurt like crazy to hump the gas tank in a permanent push-up position. For someone else, however, a cross-country trip on that bike wouldn't be out of the question. I love having answers to people's questions...makes me feel useful somehow...but this is one only the person asking can truly answer.

Considering people's inseams, arm lengths, torso length, etc. are all different, regardless of their height, it still wouldn't be that useful to say yes or no.

Just go sit on one in a dealer.

agreeing with the people here, it might not help much but i have an 01 cbr600 im 6'2 and im fine on it

I am 6'3, 220 lbs and I have an '03 Yamaha R6. I have also ridden the CBR 600RR and had no problems. My hips hurt the first two days getting used to the new riding position, but now its natural.
