Carb Trouble?

#1 Unread post by SlowNSteady »

Hi! I'm a newbie with an old cycle-1988 suzuki gn250. When i first got my bike gasoline would come out of the drain tube thingie at a high rate, I realized it was a stuck float and dislodged it by sticking my fingure in there and loosening it up. Now when I start up the bike it just putters (maybe not firing on all cyclenders?) for 10-15 minutes and only goes like 2.5 mph. After warming up it works fine. Anyone have an idea about the problem? Sorry about the lack of technical jargon-I'm really new
Thanks.

Possible solution

Well since I know all of you have been waiting with baited breath to find out what the deal was- here we go. I cleaned the carbs (weell actually the mechanic did and I heard about it!!) Didn't fix it. Adjusted the valves, didn't fix it. poked around-obviously didn't fix it. finally decided it was either the ignition coil or the ignitor unit- they think its the latter. The only place Ive found it, the cost is 301.56!!! That is almost as much as I payed for the entire bike  . It seems like an awful lot of money for something that I dont know is the real problem. If anyone knows some good places to buy parts I'll definately be looking.
