1983 Honda NIghthawk Starting Problems
1983 Honda NIghthawk Starting Problems
The bike starts fine while it is cold, but when it has been on for a while and I try to start the bike it does not start. In fact there is a total power loss. The lights and everything will work, but when you try to start it drops in power to were you can not even see that the lights are on. I have replaced the battery as that was bad at first and the sub wiring harness. I believe that there may be a problem with the ignition coils or the spark ignitor units.

based on what you described... I doubt it. I would check: 1) the battery connections. 2) the solenoid (starter relay) connections. 3) the starter itself. I have a local auto shop that can test/rebuild starters.
The coils MIGHT explain not wanting to start when hot, but probably not the loss of power.
