Bought my first motorcycle on Friday...

#1 Unread post by fiveoboy01 »

I had wanted to buy a new EX250 but after dealing with two prick dealerships I said to hell with it. Went to a used bike "superstore" and purchased a 2003 EX500 with 2500 miles on it. There are two small cracks in the upper fairing on the right side. Otherwise it is virtually mint other than the rear tire which probably has 60% of its original tread remaining.

Drove back to my hometown, stopped at the DOT and took the written test to get my permit(I had studied the WI DOT Motorcyclist's Handbook the night before). Passed, got my permit and I've put about 50 or 60 miles on it so far.

I definitely like riding it. Good power and there's not much peakiness in the powerband. Seems to handle good, though I have very little riding experience so I pretty much creep through corners at the posted limit.

I look forward to spending 10-15 bucks a week on gas, while my V-8 F150 gas hog rots in my garage

This week I'm going to go buy a good riding jacket/gloves.

Here's a picture of it:

Perfect choice for a first bike, thats exactly what i had but in a different color. I loved mine and wish i still had it at times, im sure you will enjoy it. Just make sure you get some good gear and the MSF.

happy bike day!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Best first bike choice you could make.

Hope it works out well for you.
Summer's around the corner so the real fun will start soon...

Great bike - I've had mine since January and love it. Keep the rubber side down and enjoy the ride

Cool. Good choice in a first bike. Not too wimpy. Not too powerful. Makes about 50HP or so and I always say beginners should stick to 60HP or below.

Have fun.
