Well i've been shopping around and I think maybe instead of a forth GS500 I would like a GSX-R600.

Marked at $8,799.00 MSRP and my trustworthy dealership (I really do trust these guys.) they have a $299.99 freight charge, and a $199.99 paperwork chearge. I can deffinatly get these waived, I've talked to my sales accociate. "Well the fees get payed ether way, what we can do is mess with the price of the bike." (This is a friend btw).

Now assuming he wasn't a friend, what would be a very reasonable "Out the door" price to pay for a bike like this? I'm asking because I am not too knolegable in the markup of bikes, I consider it a weakness of my knolege.

Any help is appreciated. I so badly would like to get back on the roads. I still can't believe that jackass crushed my love :evil:

I noticed that supersport bikes lose their value very quickly compared to starter bikes. If I were in the market for a gixxer, I would definitely look at used ones. Just a thought.

if you can buy it OTD for the MSRP price then get it.

even if it is a little above then still get it.

don't let them charge you for the freight and handling fee.

i got my bike w/o the freight and handling charges.

After a few bikes I'm not interested in anything used. Just new. The freight and paperwork charges are basically BS. I know i can get the bike lower than MSRP as well. I was thinking somwhere around 8.5 out the door. Does that even sound realistic to all of you? :laughing:

Sounds do-able. Although why don't you switch it up and try the new YZF-R6 instead (assuming it's a Suzuki/Yamaha dealership like ours is :P). While the new Gixxer 600 is purdy, the new R6 is just sexy!

And BTW, I think you need to sell me your old GS500

This is a good question, but has many variables. As a general rule when I shop for a cage I take 8% off the sticker price and offer that. If the dealer doesn't go for it I go to another dealer. So far, I've bought 4 new cages using this method and it hasn't failed yet. I also flat out refuse to pay any additional charges. (VIN etching comes to mind)

For bikes I've heard that you take 10% of the sticker price and offer that & you flat out refuse to pay any crate or other BS charges. (These dealers are getting paid by the manufacturers to put these bikes together anyway).
This prolly won't work on a popular bike & during the start of the riding season tho. You would have better luck buying in January.
If you really want this bike shop around at more dealers. If no one is willing to bargian you may have to suck it up. Let us know how it turns out.

Oh I almost forgot. If your paying cash don't mention that until the price is final. Most dealers will get kick backs on the interest rate of the loan. (if your rate is 7% the dealer will get 1% as a kick back)

When I purchased my bike I got it for 500 bucks below MSRP and the only tacked on charge is tax. Don't forget the tax!

I went to cyclebuy.com and purchased a report for my model year (about 12 bucks) which told me what a dealer will pay for the bike, or it's "invoice price" as it's known. So generally with this info at hand you'll know the point that you can't go lower than, and you can find a negotiation point between that and the MSRP.

In my case I paid only 40 bucks over invoice (plus tax as the only added charge).

I think unless your bike is your only form of transportation, in otherwords, a necisity, its a horribly bad idea to finance it. I just cant bring myself to finance toys.

Maybe thats why I have all old cheap ones :laughing:

I do need to finance this bike because I can't afford to drop 8.5 in cash down for it. I have no problem with monthly bills. Yes all 3 of my GS500's died because of stupid cagers or stupid people in general. All while parked.

I do have a question though about the 06 gixxer. I see the exhost is different than you're standard sportbike exhost. Does this limit my ftermarket exhost options?
