One Cylinder woes cured

#1 Unread post by cb360 »

I just wanted to post a success story instead of a question for once. My 1974 Honda CB360 had been intermittently running on one cylinder and I finally fixed it Saturday. I only got the bike a month ago and did a halfass carb cleaning to get it running... but only on one cylinder. So I dipped it and did a complete rebuild... but still no luck.

I knew it had to be something electrical at this point - after a bunch of time wasting me and a friend finally discovered that I (or someone else who had the cover off) had mashed a wire underneath the bottom of the points cover. We noticed it because the bike would run great every time we removed the points cover and then revert to one cylinder when we replaced the cover as the bare wire got mashed again and went to ground. A little electrical tape and my 31 year old bike sounds brand new!
