Exhaust Recommendations

#1 Post by marcus8811 »

I need some advice...

What kind of exhaust do you guys recommend for an '06 V-Star 1100 Classic?

I'm looking for a real good low mean-sounding rumble, not extraordinarily loud, but I do want to be able to hear it.

And is it best to have the dealer put the exhaust on?

What else will need to be done? Will I have to re-jet etc.?

There are a lot of systems available for your bike, and what you go with should be based on your own aesthetic tastes. My brother-in-law just put some nice slip-ons on his and it sounded fantastic. I have also seen one that was pretty tricked-out with a Hard Krome Sideburner on it. Again, it's whatever you prefer - the classic duals or a racey 2-into-1.

As far as rejetting is concerned, you won't have to touch the carbs unless you mess with the intake. If you're just doing the exhaust (and are content with the stock power output), you'll be fine. I would like to say, however, that my bro's 1100 Classic really woke up in a big way after installing a BAK (Big Air Kit) in conjunction with the slip-ons.

Well, I like the slash cuts.

But I am interested in giving it some more power.

How much difference will a 2 into 1 exhaust make? Maybe combined with a BAK or something?

What all can I do to give it some more power?

Without upsetting the wife too much about the cost?

You will see the greatest horsepower gain with a 2-into-1. Check out the Cobra PowerPro or the Hard Krome Sideburner.
