What do you use to clean/shine your bike?
What do you use to clean/shine your bike?
It's 10 degrees here and sunny today. Time to get the bike outta the back of the garage and put new gas in it.
What does everyone use to clean/shine their bikes, especially their rims/spokes? I use lemon pledge and it's OK. I was even thinking of getting that tire foam and shine up the tires.

Ya, it's Celcius, ...10 degrees is my limit (com'on it's not that cold). Our summers here reach 25 degrees (80 degrees Fahrenheit), so I'm use to cool/warm summers. I think I'd melt if our summers went over 30 degrees (90 degrees Fahrenheit).-Holiday wrote:10 degrees? I hope you mean celcius.
but even then, thats kinda cold.

I always use different stuff each time I run out, for cleaning I had good luck with the regular blue turtlewax for cars for washing, mothers chrome polish for chrome (although my current bike has no chrome) and Turtle Wax w/Carnauba for protecting/shining... to avoid scratches hose the hell out of the bike first to get rid of the loose dirt etc so when you wipe it with the towell you dont put little scratches... then... I use my lawn/leaf blower to dry the bike before applying the polish. Using the leaf blower works GREAT.

Not good. Don't use anything on the tires unless you're in the mood for a face plant.Venom wrote:I was even thinking of getting that tire foam and shine up the tires.

Excellent point. One of the most ridiculous noob tricks I ever saw was a buddy of mine who really wanted his bike to shine. He used Armor-all on both the seat and the tires. What a mess. He dropped it going around the first corner. After scrubbing the tires back to normal, he made a fast start and slid back to the passenger seat.ZooTech wrote:Not good.
