Truly does suck Verm. Like the rest of the community, I'm sorry to hear that.

Just curious, how'd you have the bike parked? I see you said it got away in a van, did you have a chain on it and tied around something solid? Did you have a disk lock (not that this would prevent a pick up and go)?

I've been reading reports that in NYC and other major high-risk cities obviously professional theives can get through anything, but the common bike thief is looking for bikes with no security or merely a disk lock so that the bike can be lifted easily. I can't imagine with you living in L.A. it would be much different than another major city run amuck with crime.

So just curious as to how you've been leaving the bike unattended because as someone else said, you very easily could've been watched for awhile to see how, where, and when you leave your bike alone.

Sorry to hear about your bike, Verm, but you really should cut your losses and grab up a GSX-R600 or maybe a 750. Your interest in track days coupled with your light weight tells me you're suited to a 600. Call it an oman or whatever word they use in Asia.

Make sure you have your receipts for those items. If your insurance company is good they may pay for a portion of it.

about the replacement... i dunno.

so far, what im feeling is now that i've tasted a 1000... i dunno if i'll be satisfied downgrading.

i don't always park there.

the sheriff said i was the 1st stolen bike case they had since they've been there for 5 years now.

no security cams, the parking is contantly being patrolled, the sheriff said. he said they must be pros since they probably have a lookout somewhere and they took the bike really fast as the witness described.

It does suck that they got your bike, but it sounds like you didn't have a really heavy duty chain if you had one at all, since it took them under 30 seconds to boost it. In daylight and if the lot is as patrolled as you say, a good chain should have slowed them enough that they wouldn't have been able to get it.
