OK so I'm totally going to hell now for this, but...
Did they grab the red scarf too? :devil2:

Seriously though, try and cheer up and believe there's a silver lining in every cloud. Like Skier said, maybe someone's looking out for you and putting you on the path to get a different bike.

Sorry to hear, but bike theft in Socal is just crazy. Anyway...

Verm- use your brains this time around. You will learn alot more on a GSX-R600 than you would on a liter bike, you stated as much yourself. You say it wont satisfy you? Well, when you lose the rear on a corner exit because of your inexperience, you might not live to tell the tale.

Do the right thing Verm, the 06s are real nice bikes I hear. At minumum dont go above the 750. At least the 750 is more forgiving than the 1000. Think real hard this time and correct your initial mistake.

Get a 600 Verm, dont be a squid ;)

/hard sell off

If nothing else I would take the insurance payoff, buy a cheaper bike, and blow a grand on a vacation. Tell that girl at your work that you want to take her to Europe for a week, that'll get her attention.

i only have 2 bikes im considering.

either 06 gixxer1000 or 06 gixxer600.

the 750 doesn't have red/black so out of the question.

anyway... i'll see what the insurance settlement will be and then decide from there.

so far, what im feeling is now that i've tasted a 1000... i dunno if i'll be satisfied downgrading.
You're looking at it all wrong as usual. Your main interest seems to be handling (as opposed to straight line performance), and the 600 can run circles around your 1000 on a twisty track. You'll be much happier on track days with a 600 than you would have been on the 1k.

Cut your losses, get the 600, forget all the pointless "upgrades", and invest in a good bike alarm (along with a skilled installer). It'll be harder for a bunch of guys to heist your bike in broad daylight with a siren blasting the whole time.

I agree with Zoo - get the 600 and an alarm.

Sorry for your loss. C'est la vie. Good luck dealing with the ins. co.

whatever bike i choose, i will be sure to install an alarm on it this time.

another option will be lo-jack. it's very expensive but it should be worth it.

VermilionX wrote: also, i still haven't gotten the stolen vehicle file # since the LAPD office seems to have had their comp sys crash this morning.

this morring the program they use to organize everything and locate things in their office and keep things categorized took a "poo poo". i went to work and had nothing to do as its the program i use. They had a "poo poo" load of IT guys in and some cisco systems guys in there. Apparently they didnt lose the date, but the program took a major crap. So doesnt suprise me that they didnt have the number for ya. When i left at about 1 today they seemed to be making progress. Sucks a bunch about your bike man, thats way lame. I hope you get em.
