Unless you had made a claim to your insurance company regarding the existing damage, they aren't really going to care about any of that. They will already be considering the bike a "goner", with or without existing damage. They won't be paying to replace your bike and fix the previous damage... they're only going to pay to replace the bike.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I hope it's all resolved for you very quickly. Have fun shopping!

Cheers,
Loonette

So sad when you love something so much. I hope you can get something you can love more.

The insurance company paid, but would not reinsure them until they proved they were no longer parking at the complex. They had to rent a storage unit down the road and had to attest that they only parked the bikes at the storage facility.
Maybe it's just me, but that's crazy!! I've never heard of an insurance company not covering someone unless they park their street-legal and registered vehicle in a storage facility. That just sounds whack! I'd drop a company like that right away, because I'm pretty sure that they're the only company making such a ludicrous demand. Hopefully your brother found a new insurer.

Well, look at it this way 2005 gsxr-1000 - extras (slider/windscreen/tre) costs more then 2006 gsx-r600

And you'll probably notice that the 600 is lighter, and easier to turn + since you don't hit the upper limits I doubt you'll notice a major drop in power.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I'll agree that they do owe him for a low mileage bike, but the fact remains that it devalued substantially when he drove it off the lot. You can always sue, but the fact remains that the average insurance contract will pay you for exactly what was lost. That's what you agree to accept when you agree to the insurance contract. In Verm's case this is a slightly used 2005 model, which is worth substantially less than a brand new one.

Edit : Oops. I meant 2006 model. I'm getting to old to remember what year it is.

It sucks, but it's a fact of life.

A) His was an '06. If they want to go searching for a used '06 then I guess they can.

B) When my parents had their 125cc Honda ATV stolen, the insurance company went looking for a new 125 to replace it with. Honda had discontinued that model, so the insurance company bought them a brand new 200SX.

definately get the 600, I think you will be happier on it.

most people who buy a sportbike to go canyon carving or do track days on get a 600 because of the more responsive handling. literbikes are more for just bragging rights and dragstrip junkies.

the 600 will definately be easier to ride

Gee Verm, that sucks... :x

Like it was said before, maybe it's a sign that you should get that 600. Whatever you get you'll love it just like the litre, but it will never be your first true love...
