In alot of states in the US you can't have double edged knifes, and alot of states you can't have a butterfly knife (which I have, and am very adept with), because it's considered a concealed weapon.

And in California you can't even protect yourself the weapon restrictions are so tight.

Which brings up the question. V, how'd your dojo get away with the weapons to train with? Are they wooden? I thought most every weapon ever concieved was banned in CA.

Butterfly and Flick knives are illegal over here as well for pretty much the same reason, still see them from time to time though.

This year we are (probably) losing airsoft weapons, and anything that looks like a gun to an uneducated member of the public...

Obviously the bright orange cap on the muzzle isn't enough.

Of course there's the people who spray paint the cap black or remove it but they deserve to be shot for being idiots.

Well thats just it - we have fairly strict existing laws on behaviour with firearms in public that cover airsoft weapons.

Politicians inventing solutions to problems that don't exist.

Meh.

Sorry to hear about your bike, and make sure you don't accept whatever the insurance company offers you for it - get more. *Find high quotes, and send them in if they offer you any substantial amount less than new value.*

I trained a bit with a hand and a half -

Just a cheap MRL replica, but made with all the right stuff the right way. False edge, which I like. Looks real, but feels like a butter knife. Trying not to tempt my sharpening stone....

The549, what kind of drum set is that?

And are you the one that's from California, or am I thinking of someone else?

Dude that is a nice blade. How much did it run you?

I collect swords for decoration (functional/non-functional, doesn't matter) and that is a sweet looking one.

Yeah, Northern Cali. It's a Mapex Pro M. Maple set. I love it, it's a few years old but I still get compliments on most gigs I play.

Sorry to hear about your loss Verm. If the police don't find your bike within the next three days they prolly never will. Right now your bike is sitting somewhere "cooling off" because the theives don't know if it has lojack. Once they are satisfied no one is coming for it its chopped and/or shipped out of the country. As a fun exercise you should start checking ebay for parts from a gsxr-1000 from LA. Maybe you'll recoginize something.

As far as those accessories (aftermarket parts) go most likely you're covered up to $1,000. If you are this should be noted on your policy. I have this coverage on my bike and its noted right on the declarations page.

Once you confirm that you are covered for accessories make sure you maximze that whole $1,000 and make sure you have receipts. Unfortunately, that helmet prolly won't be covered since its not permanately attached to the bike.

Now the bad news. The insurance company most likely won't pay out your claim for at least 30 days since they are hoping the bike will turn up.
As someone else mentioned they will low ball you on a settlement if it comes to that. Don't accept the first offer & negotiate.

If you do get paid and the bike by some miracle shows up after that offer to buy the bike from the insurance company. Make sure you offer a very low price tho like $100 dollars. (thats what they'll get from a salvage yard anyway). Then you can part out the bike yourself and make some coin on the side.

One more thing about lojack. Personally, I think its a rip off & way overpriced. For bikes its about $695 ? (it should be $95 & if it was I'd buy one) If someone stole my bike or cage I wouldn't want it back. Who knows what the hell they did to it while they had it. I would also think its easy to find that transmitter on a bike and take it off rather quickly. Afterall, a bike is much smaller than a cage.

Good luck to you and let us know how it works out.
