And c'mon everyone, we are human beings and we judge all the time. Whether its gay people who think republicans are nazis or republicans who think gays are sinners; we all judge each other. So, lets not pretend that any of us are judgement free.

I judge all the time, its how I know Im normal and everyone else is crazy. A vast majority of the time I keep my judgements to myself though.

I dont really consider safety issues a matter of judging other people. Injured bikers affect us all, whether directly or indirectly. When a state repeals a helmet law and fatalities go up 86%, thats going to affect every biker in the state in the form of poor public image and insurance rates. Reminds me of the guy who was advocating not wearing seatbelts dying in a car accident where a seatbelt would have saved his life. You can lead a horse to water...

This is a forum chiefly populated by riders who wear the gear and basically obey the law. Not only that but we're entitled to our opinions. And we're allowed to point out stuff we think is funny.

It's a 2-way street. Everyone could have let my comment slide. It's all been said before.

By way of example, last year I saw a guy on a vstar 600, in full gear, full face helmet, leather jacket, chaps, heavy boots.

His girlfriend was on the back, in... a skull cap, tanktop, shorts and sandles. Doesn't the dichotomy at least bring a smirk to your lips? At all... I mean him wearing all that stuff up top and flip flops on his feet is like putting on a leather welders jacket, and newspaper pants to start torch cutting.

Funny is relative I guess. I have a different sense of humor. If I saw that I'd probably just think the girl must not be feeling all that important to him at that particular moment. You'll never catch me with more gear on than my passenger. I've given girls my jacket, gloves, and even sunglasses and rode around with just a t-shirt and prescription specs.

It's an elitist mentality that permeates this entire forum. A lot of people here live in non-helmet-law states and take advantage of it. Swing by Ohio if you ever get the chance and attend ANY motorcycle event. You'll find that the vast majority shows up in jeans, t-shirts, and sunglasses (and a big ol' smile!). Those folks are known as "bikers", not "squids". Being a mere "motorcyclist" yourself, you probably wouldn't understand...

Hardly. You'll see these same folks at Sturgis every year. And when Honda Homecoming comes to town, you'll see hundreds of 40-70 year old "Wing-Nuts" riding around in ballcaps. These are seasoned riders that put tens of thousands of miles per year on their bikes. The "R.U.B.'s" and fairweathers, as you put it, are very easy to spot. They're always on the most expensive Harley they could find (either a V-Rod or tricked-out Fat Boy) or they're on a custom, like a Big Dog. More often than not they'll be wearing Khaki's and a polo shirt and will be walking around talking on their cell phone.

I'm not one to run away simply because I'm not in the majority opinion. After all, I'm a conservative who works at a zoo. I'm used to being surrounded by non-like-minded individuals.

And besides, this is one of the few bike forums that hasn't banned me yet!
