Looking for tips when surrounded by Squids

Haha. I love that as soon as faster riders are mentioned the insults fly eg: "squid", "knuckle dragging ape".

Also where did braking the speed limit come into the discussion? In a 100kph zone going through some nice corners one does not need to break the speed limit to sort out the men from the boys*.

I've got no problem with people who speed, no problem with folks who are quicker than me, it's *fudge*wits on the road who want to mount my rear wheel and climb up my pipes because I am in their way I have a problem with.

I really don't like bullies.

Speeding came into about the same point I did, if someone is taking a road faster than me they are generally speeding.

So I wish I had kaltrops handy, I think they would be easier to throw than rocks...but don't they only work for Ninjas?

Verm...I was in NY ..so the guy behind had Helmet and T for "protection" ...and more body hair

Actually caltrops were used to break a cavalry charge. Horses don't run so well with shards of jagged metal sticking out of their feet. They've just been adapted to automotive use.

What road where you on in NY that would be considered twisties? I can't think of a single route in Conn that would be considered twisties. There is many scenic roads in Conn tho that are nice for riding at a leisurely pace.

Route 9D from Peekskill to Bear Mtn Bridge on the east side of the Hudson all bends for about 2 miles- a great section of road....then Rt 301 Cold Spring to Carmel...haven't found anything in CT yet to compare to these for the fun factor

...and it is all highway...not racetrack (to Mintbreads earlier point) and IMO speed is not the defining factor of a squid..it is attitude, especially toward others sharing the road..

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that area in mind if I'm ever out that far. I usually stick around Hartford & Middlesex counties.

Hey "Squids" have their place on the road, given the rest of Us Bad Names, cause we keep on wiping them off the roads, road signs, telephone poles... etc... 16-20 yr old riders should not ride past their experience level, and bedtime.... But then who would manufactures sell 600cc Rockets too.... So I don't mean to insult, but if you're a squid, under 20, riding a 600cc Rocket...... Relax, you'll live longer.... And maybe I'll quit having to wait for the first 'kid' to hit a telephone pole this year so far....
Oh let the squids by, the goverment, motorcycle manufactures, these kids folks, don't care, why should we......
