Ode To A Squirrel

#1 Unread post by Gummiente »

I see you come up out of the ditch
Tail twitching away
Frollicking about on the roadside
Your antics make me smile

You scamper out onto the road
And stop on the centerline
Mesmerised by something lying there
Oblivious to the rest of the world
As you inspect it

Suddenly you see me approaching
And pop up on your hind legs for a better look
Inquisitive, head cocked to one side
Front paws drawn up to your chest
Cute as hell

I slow down, unsure of your next move
You drop down on all fours
And head for the other side of the road
For a minute I think you'll be safe
But, no, you spin around as I get close
Then disappear under my bike as I pass

-thup!-

I feel the sidecar wheel rise
Ever so slightly
To mark your passing
Like someone lifting a butt cheek
To let loose a small fart

I look in the mirrors
And see you lying there
Flat on your back
Bereft of life
And I feel a pang of guilt

You stupid little bugger
What were you thinking
Say hi to Rocky for me
When you get to Squirrel Heaven
:canada: Mike :gummiente:
It isn't WHAT you ride,
It's THAT you ride

I hate when that happens--sometimes they walk the overhead powerlines or telephone lines, fall off while traffic is underneath, then squish.....end of the line.

I hit a raccoon once with a greyhound bus. I tried to go around it, but it suddenly turned and ran right under the wheels. That was loud sickening thunk.

Think about where the driver sits. It's right over the front wheels. I hit the raccoon with the front wheel.

now the question is,... did the carcas stay on the road or go up into the bus?

my brother has a habit of hitting pigeons with his truck and has quite a few skeletons in his engine.
