Radar detectors, who uses?

I am thinking of getting one but I'd have to figure out how to get it to connect to the power system, and plus I'd need to rig it to run on an earpiece if it didn't already have one.

Plus there's the issue of where to put it.

Any thoughts?

they legal where you are? if so, maybe you could use velcro and attach it under your windscreen, the ones I have seen would be small enough to do that I would think.

Dont cops use mostly laser now? Check the legal requirements, they'd be easy to spot on a bike especially at night.

Never used one myself, I dont speed.

Radar Detectors are legal in Washington state. But as far as them being effective, it all depends on conditions. If you are the only one on the road, its not going to help you too much because most officers use either laser or instant on radar. If your detector give the laser signal, the officer has already clocked you. With instant on, its basically the same story. If they are using radar you might get some warning, but you will probably ignor it because many times the warning is a false alarm. And if you get pulled over and the officer sees the detector, you are getting a ticket.

I find BSing a cop works better than the dectectors. My good friend is a cop and even though they are not illegal, or weren't when he told me this... he would give people the ticket for speeding if they had a detector... but in many cases would let them go if they didn't... he told me all of his friends did the same.

Well, see I didn't plan to have the unit visible.

The plan was yank out the circuitry that senses radar/laser and mount it behind the fairing, then put the "brain" under my seat, and have it relay to my headphones via a bluetooth rig.

Sounds like a plan...and a lot of work and $. Its cheaper to just slow down, and riding fast only saves you a minute or so anyway.

You could probably rack up a few tickets before the unit pays for itself.

well heres the thing its a good idea for the reason of 1. alot of cops are still running radar, id say prolly only 25% or less use laser. 2. if a cops posted up using his gun, if your lucky enough it will give you a heads up as he clocks a car infront of your or what not.

Eh, I wouldn't think it'd be worth it. Lots of things set them off besides cop radar guns. Automatic doors do for one, so if you ride past a retail store, then it will go off. Why do you want one so bad anyway? Most of the time cops don't even pull you over unless you're going noticably faster then the rest of the traffic or if you're going like 10 mph over, whichever is faster.
