Where to park?

Hey, experienced riders and motorcycle gurus. I'm just now encountering this-- where to park the bike at shopping centers, Wal-Marts, businesses?

I hesitate to park out in the lot among all the cages, as that seems to me like an invite for some cager to pull in without looking, smash my bike, then make off and leave me to find it when I come out.

I've seen some bikes actually parked on the sidewalks. Is this a common and accepted practice?

Where else is recommended?

i live and work in the city , so i normaly park on the sidewalk ( and try not to run into poles).

In the burbs , like say, at a mall ( i hate malls) i'd put it in a spot, but have it pushed back in the spot far enough that people will see it before running it over.

Just use some common sense and you'll be ok

after having my bike run over in a parking lot, i will be parking far away from cagers or on mendians if there are any.

I usually park on the striped areas, which are normally placed in front of the lots near the handicapped spots. Sometimes stores have large spaces directly in front of them with these striped off sections (such as the big retails Home Depot and Walmart, etc).

Usually if a lot is empty I will just park in a close regular parking spot. Walking doesnt really bother me.

also try to park next to a curb of some sort, always try to have some sort of curb (even like the ones that have a tree and some grass etc)

Some places (like the mall by my house, have a specific closed off section for motorcycles. If not, then I would park in a space a long way away, where there's a smaller chance of someone pulling into the space without looking, and a smaller chance of someone's kid running over and "procreating" with the gears or something, and a smaller chance of some punk getting pissed at you for getting to park so close, and knocking over your bike.

Most people around here just park on the side walks.

You might wanna ask the owners of the businesses first though.

If you are going to park in a regular spot, park to the rear of the spot so they will see your bike before pulling in.
